Overview of the Complaint Process
One of the statutory responsibilities of the PEICO is to investigate all complaints received from employers, members, clients, or the public regarding the conduct of a Optometrist in PEI. Any person can make a complaint to the Registrar.
PEICO’s intervention begins when an individual concerned about a member’s conduct or practice submits, in writing, a complaint to the College of Optometrists of Prince Edward Island.
When a complaint is received, a letter is sent to the complainant acknowledging receipt of the complaint and requesting additional information. A letter is also sent to the member informing them that a complaint has been received and that the matter is being investigation. A copy of the complaint is included in the initial letter to the member and the member has an opportunity to respond to the complaint.
For more information on the Complaint Process, please email info@peico.ca.
